Ribbon Dance Quilt

Ribbon Dance Quilt Free Tutorial designed by Jenny of Missouri Quilt
Ribbon Dance Quilt

The Ribbon Dance Quilt, designed by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company, is a captivating pattern that elegantly mimics the fluid movement of a dancer's ribbon. This quilt is constructed using half-square triangles (HSTs) made from two sets of 10-inch precut fabric squares, commonly known as layer cakes. In her tutorial, Jenny demonstrates a quick and easy method to create these HSTs, simplifying the assembly process.

For this project, Jenny utilizes the "Garden Splendor" fabric collection by Wild Apple for Robert Kaufman, which infuses the quilt with vibrant, springtime colors and prints. The finished quilt measures approximately 78 inches by 86 inches, making it a generous size for various uses. Additionally, the tutorial includes a free downloadable PDF diagram to assist in the quilt's construction.

Quilters of all skill levels will appreciate Jenny's clear instructions and the efficient techniques she shares in this tutorial. By following her guidance, you can create a stunning Ribbon Dance Quilt that showcases the beauty of your chosen fabrics and the graceful design of intertwining ribbons.

Jacob's Ladder bee blocks

The Jacob's Ladder quilt block is a timeless design, celebrated for its strong diagonal lines formed by the interplay of four-patch units and half-square triangles. This classic pattern offers versatility, making it a favorite among quilters seeking both tradition and adaptability.

In a recent project for the do. Good Stitches quilting bee, participants were tasked with creating Jacob's Ladder blocks using a combination of strong medium to dark colors paired with white fabric. This high-contrast approach enhances the visual impact of the quilt, highlighting the dynamic movement inherent in the Jacob's Ladder design.

The construction of these blocks involved efficient techniques such as strip piecing for the four-patch units, where long fabric strips are sewn together and then subcut to create pairs of squares. This method streamlines the assembly process, ensuring consistency and precision in the blocks.
